Jose's place in Rim Stinger folklore is assured for any number of reasons, the main one being that he was the inaugural winner in 2004 at Slaley Hall and is therefore the first name on the trophy. Since that win however, Jose's mental game has been called into question on more than one occasion. Indeed, one could argue that he won the first tournament when he didn't really know there was a tournament happening, and certainly didn't know he was leading. The next time he was leading coming to the last tee we had streams, bushes, shoes off and a capitulation not seen since Greg Norman lost the other Masters to Nick Faldo. As the inaugural winner, Jose commissioned the blazer and trophy that are so sought after by all the other players every year, and in 2008 Jose joined the board as Chairman of Rim Stinger Media and Public Relations. This was in recognition of the Rim Stinger V video montage ("Are we respecting the backswing?") which has earned cult status.
