“Bruiser” has played three Rim Stingers but has been absent since RS IV in 2007. There are two reasons for this. The two reasons according to Bruiser are “I am painting my house every weekend from now (April) until Christmas” (2008), and “I need to look after my chickens” (2009). According to his fellow Rim Stingers there are a different two reasons: failure to secure the trousers in his new marriage (2008-date) and being yelled at by his tennis partner (2005-07) as, tongue lolling out, he smacks an attempted winner into next week, or at least the next court.

Bruiser’s golf has been missed. He has probably secured one of the greatest Rim Stinger champagne moments when, starter in attendance, he drove his tee shot on the first low and hard straight into the ladies tee box. The unfortunate ball arched high into the air and behind him alighting amongst the members breakfasting on the terrace. That’s hard to follow, even harder to go and retrieve your ball.
