No one divides opinion as much as Richie Jones. No one seeks to create division as much as Richie Jones. The truth of the Rim Stinger is you're never so popular as when you're running up record high scoring rounds and reliably hitting every water hazard. You're never so unpopular as when you are keeping your game together and notching up a decent score. Richie has experienced both sides of the coin. In the inaugural championships he carded three successive 75s. Not bad you might say, except that these were the out 9, back 9 and then the out 9 the next day. Yet the following year, Richie picked up the trophy. Two key reasons for this - only five fellow competitors to beat, two of those now known to be mentally unstable at the highest level, and the absence of water from the course. We're all prone to hit the wet stuff from time to time, but for Richie, the problem is pathological. If the OCC did not have similar issues, he'd pick a lake-filled course every year.

In addition to winning the Rim Stinger once, Richie has also "won" the Bag o'shite twice (2009 & 2010), thereby typifying the inconsistency we like to see from all Rim Stingers.  No one was more pleased the Richie when he avoided the Bag o'shite hattrick in 2011 (by one point it must be said), despite a sudden, and still not fully explained unilateral handicap reduction handed down from the CHC the night before the Rim Stinger...  This unexplained eve-of-Rim Stinger reduction has become traditional, and in 2013 (admittedly having just won the pairs) it cost him the title as he finished runner up by one.  There's always next year.
